THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE SAHABI ABU AYYUB AL-ANSARI’S ACTIONS AT THE GRAVE OF THE NOBLE PROPHET – ﷺ

The following 5 volume work by Dr. Abul Hasan Hussain Ahmed is primarily a defence of the authenticity of the following narration:

Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal reported the following in his Musnad (no. 23585):

Meaning:

Abdul Malik ibn Amr narrated to us, Kathir bin Zayd narrated to us, from Dawud bin Abi Salih, he said: Marwan came one day and found a man placing his face on the grave, so he said: Do you know what you are doing? He turned to him and it was Abu Ayyub, so he said: Yes, I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I did not come to a stone, I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying:  Do not weep on religion if its people assume its leadership (waliyahu), but weep on it if other than its people assume it.”

The work is a full reply totalling in excess of 2000 pages (5 volumes) in response to two individuals known as Abu Khuzaima Ansaari (Imran Masoom) and Abu Hibbaan (Kamran Malik), and their associates, who issued a work back in 2013 as a rebuttal of a 2005 article which upheld the authenticity of the above narration.  In this reply to the named detractors a whole host of narrations pertaining to the actions of not only the noble Sahabi, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (ra) at the blessed grave of the Prophet ﷺ were brought up, but also from other Sahaba like Abdullah ibn Umar, Mu’adh ibn Jabal, Bilal ibn Rabah, Anas ibn Malik, Usama ibn Zayd and Uqbah ibn Amir, may Allah be pleased with them all.

AT THE GRAVE OF THE NOBLE PROPHET  ﷺ:

A detailed analysis and reply to Salafi detractors on Interrelated Issues

A plethora of interrelated topics pertaining to the issue of touching the graves of Muslims, Tawassul and Tabarruk were also discussed in a systematic manner.  Matters pertaining to the history of Salafism and some of its scholars and views of its laymen were also mentioned and discussed as part and parcel of this work.

Finally, the last chapter enumerated the views or verdicts of over 50 scholars and how they mentioned the Abu Ayyub (ra) narration in terms of either explicit authentication in some manner, or their silent endorsement was provided.  Uniquely, this work has documented many of the scholarly quotations by bringing forth dozens of handwritten Arabic digital manuscripts (makhtutat) from centuries back from a variety of global manuscript library collections, as well as from contemporary printed editions with highlighting.
