Assalaamu'alaikum Some people claim by speaking up against salafiism we create division. Yet, those same people contradict themselves by constantly trying to disprove madhabs. You can see them all over Google and YouTube - a medium I believe is a blessing used correctly, but also one of the biggest fitna of our time. Personally, I'm not bothered by people who prefer to call themselves salafis. If they want to fool themselves into to believing they're more intelligent and informed than the imams of madhabs that's between them and Allah (swt). My problem is when they make so much effort to convert others to their way of thinking. This is despite the fact it's obvious even to a layman like me that they haven't really done their homework. I remember, about 18 years ago, one such person actually told me they pray 8 raka'ats salah during tarawih in Makkah. I didn't argue with him. I remember thinking he was either lying, or regurgitating something someone else told him; in which case he was just doing taqlid of the person who told him.
